Tarka Tennis Centre – Barnstaple

The AEGON GB Pro-Series Barnstaple is the highest level tournament in the UK after the grass court events at The Championships, Wimbledon, the AEGON International in Eastbourne and the AEGON Classic in Birmingham.With an informal and friendly atmosphere, it is a great place for fans of all ages to experience fast and exciting indoor hard court tennis.

In 2012, players from 14 nations came to North Devon to compete for the Dartington Vases and a share of the $75k prize money. Many of the players regularly compete on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, with last year’s highest ranked player, Romano Oprandi from Switzerland who was ranked 58 in the world.

2012 saw Germany’s Annika Beck win the singles tournament beating Elena Daniilidou in a close fought 3 set match in fornt of a crowd of over 500 . At 18 Annika is one of the future stars in women’s tennis & we will no doubt hear a lot about her in the coming years.

The doubles was won by Akgul Amanmuradova & Vesna Dolonc who domintaed the event. This year’s player field 2013, will be announced in full in October.
